recent happenings around here....

It has been awhile. There aren't any pictures of recent sewing...but there were some pictures in the phone that seemed blog worthy.
I said I wouldn't be painting my auction chairs. I was wrong.
I bought some paint! They are taking a little longer than I thought.
Washing, painting on the primer...then finally starting with the green.
I will be back at it this morning.

This is the neighbor boy, when he was over a couple weeks ago. He found this old truck and wanted to play with it, then chased down the cat to see if she wanted a ride.
He likes to come over and see what we are up to.
He is not bothered by tractor joe's grumpiness.
He is like a Dennis the Menace,
and tractor joe is now Mr. Wilson.

Painting the chairs also took longer because...
I remembered that I needed to put out recycle stuff,
While getting that ready, I found some old jars that could be stored out in a shed.
So, I took them out there and got sidetracked weeding.
That is when I decided to transplant some ferns.
I was watering them and there sat my tomato plants.
So those went in the garden.
As long as I was out there, I transplanted some marigolds.
But wait, where are the flower seeds I bought?
Found them and they went into the ground too.
I also stood around a lot watching the county guys dig deep holes. They needed to unplug some tile.
There are huge ponds north and south of us in the farm ground. They don't go away.
They thought they had it figured out yesterday and left saying that "by morning the ponds to the north would be shrinking."
I looked this morning. The north ones look the same, but the south ones are gone.

On one of the last days of school we went bowling and then to the second highest point in Iowa.
There is a tower there and the view is awesome. We all climbed up to have a look.

I now have a frequent painter card!
Paint 6 and get the 7th free!
was in Bancroft. We did the wine glass that night.
I told my sister I wanted to add words to it.
Her idea.....
The good life is friends, wine and art--in Italian.

Karen had this in her car the night we painted. It is scrap vomit fresh from the quilter.
She pulled it out to show every one. When the top was finished, it made her gag.
She didn't like it much at all.
The light must have been just right. It looked beautiful!
She fell in love with it.
(HERE) is where she blogged about it.

Okay, back to the green paint.

Wow.....you have been BUSY!!! I feel like such a slacker after reading your post!! Your yard is going to be soooo nice before the summer is over!

Your green chairs will blend in nicely with the wire type yard furniture you got last year. That green goes well with the red and yellow....hhmmmm, maybe you don't plan on using these years outside....you didn't say....maybe on the porch!??

Don't you think everyone probable has a Dennis the Menace kid in their neighborhood.

Looks like you are becoming quite the ar-tist! Sounds like a fun class too!!

Now I'm all inspired after reading your post, but I don't know what to do first.....work in the yard.....drag out my paints....I thought I would got off the hook from sewing but then you went showed Karen's FABULOUS new scrap quilt.....oh, decisions decisions.

I guess I should go put the water in the flower beds, it's supposed to be 104 today.......wow wee...hot tamale!!!!

wow, you have been busy! I love the green paint - Can't wait to see the chairs and table together. I need to bind that quilt. Maybe this weekend. :)

I think you might as well wander up to my yard, and take care of my plants and weeds, too, while you're at it. And paint my Little Free Library.

And that QUILT!!! I AM IN LOVE! It is gorgeous! Glad she changed her mind. Uffda. I would personally walk/run to Iowa and take it off her hands if she continued to call it scrap vomit.

Love the boy and the cat (and Dennis/Mr. Wilson) . . . love it.

Your post today had me in giggles!

Love the green for the chairs, too.

Love your blog today! I love that you wander from one thing to another. That is my live. It is amazing how that happens. Start one thing and go on to another. Good job! You made me smile.

So you and I are very similar to the "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" philosophy that I live by. ;-)

Love reading you posts! You make me laugh with all your multi-tasking antics. Love those chairs and I think Karen was just teasing us - I mean ... c'mon, that's a great quilt :)

Oh boy, I love your green chairs! Great color.

Love the photo of "Dennis" and the kitty. Pretty sure kitty didn't stick around for the ride! And love the Dennis/Mr Wilson story!

Congrats on your painting! You're getting good at this!

And your easily distracted day sounds just like one of mine! Great minds or something. In my case, it's just ADD I think. I often wonder where my day has gone?

Karen's quilt is wonderful! Glad she finally decided she liked it!
