This is the last chunky block I made for this quilt. When I had 32 sailboats made, I had no idea how to lay them out into a top.
Then I saw this quilt again... made by brooklynquilter...for her dad with blocks she had won at block lotto. This was the blue print. I made 4 more boats for a total of 36.
Four boats per chunky block and one star (nine total)
The boats became tall or wide as needed by adding fabric for filler.
The stars only needed to be laid tall or wide.
It measures 68x74. The borders remind me of "modern"....big and fat,
but it also has a "Amish" look to it with the black,
there is also free piecing or wonky.
The best category it falls into is DONE!
School starts back up in one week.
I haven't touched my scrappy trip around the world in weeks now. Back to this one. Over half the blocks are made, the rest are all tubes ready to go.
Before I do that, I will work on my contracted braille class.
We were given a big bag of sweet corn. Need to get that ready for freezing.
We canned peaches the other night.
I feel like a domestic goddess getting ready for winter!

Julie,
The Boats are PRECIOUS!!! And Of COURSE I'm a BIG fan of the Many Scrappy Trip Quilt, yours is extra happy with all the happy colors!
And thanks for leaving a comment on my stars! I have to post the "NEW" arrangement......when it gets underway!! LOL!!
Love the sailboats and stars... this is a great quilt! The corn and peaches sound delicious. :)
I love your boats! ...and the Amish look of the quilt is so modern!
really love what you did with the boats and stars. wow, that big black border really makes it pop!
The black border is perfect. It came out great!
The sailboats and stars are wonderful, black was the perfect choice, along with the wide border. Yum, peaches and corn, I just received a bag of peaches.
Ok! Stop being sooo/sewww creative!! Of course I LOVE the black for the ships!
I like the brighter colors of your Trips around the World top! The ones I won on the Block Lotto are on the darker shades, but I still like them as well as yours!
Mr. Browndirt is gone to pick up some sweet corn too!
He got a call from a farmer friend. Our garden sweet corn has long gone been eaten, so now, we are excited to get some more.
Of course, you let your 'poor' sister Jane shuck your corn for you!! You and Your Muther aught to be ashamed!! ha!!!
Oh man, just one more week before school starts for you! New and different school, schedule and such! I wish you could stay there in good ole Tatonika!!
Gosh darn, Julie! :) You are just clever beyond words! I LOVE this quilt! Love your free-piecing and the black is PERFECT to set it all off! Very Amish-y. The size kind of surprised me...it's bigger than it looks on my monitor. How big are your blocks?? Great job!
We're still having corn and peaches season, and they are just so yummy this year. And the tomatoes are great too. I just eat them, I don't can anything. Don't know how, and it sounds like so much work! Good for you. Yes, Domestic Goddess indeed!
Yikes! School so soon?? The kids around here don't start till Sept. 3rd. Of course, we don't have such long, snowy winters either.
I love that sailboat quilt SO MUCH! What a perfect gift it will be.
Gorgeous quilts again. You do such beautiful work. I'm a big fan.
LOVE the sailboats layout -- WOW!!!
the sailboat quilt is just too wonderful!
Got your message on my phone. I was about to tell you that my learning of the phone is going fine, when I accidentally deleted your message. So I guess I'm not yet an expert. Sheesh.
I don't want to turn into one of those "nose constantly in cell phone" people, but I can see how that happens to them. Ick.
I love "Red Skies" quilt. The stars and the sailboats are GREAT!
Happy Back to School to you. I hope you have a fabulous schoolyear with plenty of time left over for your super quilting!
your sailboat top is awesome !
Love the combination of solids and free piecing !
Oh my! I love the sailboats! And that border is perfect! And my scrappy TATW - still just 3 lonely little blocks. Oh well.
