last weekend....party & caching

Last weekend we were up to the cities for my sister's early 50th birthday party. She was born in December when it is cold, very close to Christmas.....
so she decided to have her party when it was nice out and away from Christmas.
The pictures that I took turned out really bad (at least on the phone)...
we had fun playing bingo and answering a quiz sheet that Jane had put together about herself.
Now you may think it was beer that made my pictures blurry,
no...I blame the caffeine in the pepsi that I drank.

I had a map on where the party was so I filled in some of the geocaches in that area....that is what we did on Sunday...go from park to park looking for the caches.

We did 4 in about an hour. Things were going our way.
Dang we were good!!!

One was at a tree planted by neighbours in honour of a little girl named Sarah, she died in 1992. It was a very sweet cache in a birdhouse. One was on the fence of a ball field under the protective plastic tube....and some were in the trees just waiting to be found.

Then we went..... here (Southeast by Southwest)
Things didn't go well. A clock tower is on the southeast corner of the southwest transit parking ramp. We had already been searching for over a 30 minutes when we called Mr and Mrs DNA Jones to come help.
Here's the clue: half before the hour no need to take this one apart it's in plain site.

We were up and down the 5 levels of the ramp. Top to bottom, bottom to top, including the stairs. A teenage couple thought they would have some privacy for a heavy makeout session...
but nooo......we messed up their plans...they left.

We stayed another hour and left around 3 pm. Another DNF.....(did not find).......oh well.
We will go back someday and look some more!!

Mr. DNA was very kind to do the standard.....

I don't know where it is ??? pose.

.....and, unfortunately, no fabrics were harmed in the posting of this blog today.....

company comes to our house....

Madison and her family, along with other sisters and brothers-in-laws, plus one mother came for an overnight stay at our place!
Our newest farm girl got to ride in circles out in the pasture with tractor joe. She really enjoyed it.

We also feasted on tractors joe's finest effort yet......... grilled pork loin.........we had sweet corn too. Madison couldn't quite get the hang of shucking it, but she did give it her all.

We ate all over. Some were in the kitchen, some were out back at my lovely picnic table....and some...
(who are afraid of dogs and wear orange shirts)
........ate on the front steps.....away from any dogs!!!
It was nice to have a daddy and an uncle keep her company.

I have my quizzes and quilted prizes ready to go......we are headed up to the cities this morning for a party.
Jane will be turning 50 and she's throwing a party.........
I'll take pictures and post about that next.

I was going to wear that shirt!!

Another quilt by Karen......

Karen's newest quilt was back from the quilters.

We needed to get a picture of it.....

It was a warm windy and sunny day....

This was a learning experience.....the sun was glaring or the wind was snapping it all over.....

....so the photos aren't the best.

I tried laying on the ground and just shooting up as the poor quilt was being whipped up.We have a little bit of detail here.

The quilt is made of old shirts. A lot of them are her husbands old, worn work shirts. There are even some old shirts from her mom in it. . Lots of variety and color. In person it is beautiful. You just want to snuggle up with it. Our pictures here don't do it justice. The colors are probably closest to the real thing in the last picture.

When her husband, the shop keeper, saw it all finished....he said

"HEY, I was going to wear that shirt!"............He is such a card.

good boy.....

This is Ozzy our dog. He is really sweet and loves everyone.

He looks harmless enough.

My neice is coming for a visit. Good ol' Madison.

She is afraid of dogs ......all dogs.

So I am worried....she will see Ozzy and she will not be able to see a cuddly little dog....

Madison will see something different.....she will see an attack dog......
a dog ready to bite.....
like this......

There is nothing better...

...than the sound of popping as the jars seal.
I never did find my pint size jars, or enough of them anyway. Quarts work just as well, I guess

it is time

We have been eating out of this box of peaches. But we will never finish them all before they get over ripe.....
SO...... I will be canning them today.....I need to find everything that goes with canning...........

Note to Self: Don't store boxes of jars under lots of other boxes.
here I go..........

home today

I don't need to travel today. What a relief. It takes 1 1/2 hours to get to class, so thats three hours on the road and then we lengthened each day so the last class (on the 17th) is shorter. I was so tired last night.....
So maybe I will get some sewing in.
There are things I want done by the 15th.
BUT.....While it is all fresh in my mind I do want to get some of the homework done.
Some can't be done until school starts.... Everyday I went by this sign. It is in West Bend.....I always stopped here for a bathroom break and a sausage/egg sandwich, kinda like a Sausage McMuffin. There is also a cache at the Grotto, so I was able to find that too.
Before I left Pocahontas yesterday, I made sure to stop at the quilt shop there. I bought a bunch of fat quarters. I always need lights and the colors were in the "red X" boxes....they were discounted! The dark, dark one is actually red.

Then I needed to water at home. While out doing that.... I took this picture. Some were a gift from the big guy for Mother's Day a few years ago, others I just bought from the clearence bin.
The first year was SO-SO,
the second year a deer? maybe ate the top of EVERY plant. No flowers.
But this years they were left alone and there are tons of blooms....and several new shoots growing.
I am going to go start my day at home....yippie!!!!!
