full circle skirt....

Amanda is the crook, the bad girl named Concheata....in the school musical. I agreed to make this full circle skirt. The ruffles are taking way longer than I anticipated....but so far we are thinking it will look so cool.
So I will be at my kitchen table for some time yet....

reading material and project....

Cloth*paper*scissors magazine has old issues for sale at half-price. I have seen it in the stores, but never bought an issue.
But lately I have been more intrigued by this mixed media stuff.....it all looks so interesting....so I bought three of them.
Oh my goodness....I spent part of the morning sipping coffee, and pouring over these issues while sitting on my bed.....so delightful!

Crispy had received a Amazon gift card at Christmas....I bought it from him and ordered
Journal Spilling by Diana Trout. It is almost like a work book...full of techniques....

For now I will just continue to study it....eventually I will actually do something.

My other latest book came from Gwen. I LOVE this book....and I love Gwen for buying 2 and sending me one!!!

My bunnies came out of here!! I have a few more made now.

The angel got me thinking......
I have plans for her.

Since I am deviating from the pattern....I thought I better plan just a bit....
I needed to find out how wide words were when I stamped them with ink....
As I started gathering and making pieces for my angel quilt....I could see that, to make things work the way I wanted them to....
she had to be made backwards.

My angel quilt will be just like the original....only different. I think I will go back to working this one....as I was laying things out it became apparent...
I need paint....
I am off to make more elements.....

clean dog, clean window

Life was good for Ozzy....the weather was warming. Good days to go find mud to play in and then lay in the warm sun.As luck would have it, the very day Ozzy REALLY made a mess of himself, he also had a grooming appointment.
They washed and clipped and decorated him with girlie stuff...
and he smelled so good too.

He must have felt funny with no hair and gussied up like this. He wouldn't even look at me. It wasn't to much later when Cornelious came along and wondered if they always do this.
Yep.
So Cornelious took out the yellow feather and removed the scarf.
He was Ozzy's best friend for the rest of the day.

I really debated showing this picture. It is a really nasty dirty window.....

at my house.

Last week I pulled up the blinds after being down all winter and looked at this.

Uck

It was shut up last fall and never looked out again...until now.

It was time to clean.

Everything looks so much nicer out the window now!

one more stop.....

We had one more very important stop to make on the way home from Minnesota.
This one was at yet another cemetery....
We were still working on hitting 600 caches.
This cache is right on hiway 169...under some big evergreens.
I grabbed the flashlight and crawled under the trees.
Couldn't find a thing shining the light on the base of the tree.
I was ready to give up....it was dark by now and cold anyway.
Good ol' tractor joe said "let me have the flashlight"
3 seconds later he says, "it's right here!"
I had probably leaned right over it looking very deep under the tree, when it was out on the edge all along.
....geesh.
I signed the log book and it became official..... We have 600 caches found!
It was a really good day over all!!!

stopping at the cemetery....

After purchasing the Explorer we headed south to New Auburn, Minnesota. I have been wanting to go here for a couple years now.
My great great grandpa and grandma are buried here....Frank and Sarah Ramsdell. He came from Maine to settle in Minnesota.
My Dad always told us that Frank was killed in some kind of horse & buggy accident when he had been drinking.

There is some kind of yellow growth on Frank's stone. I tried rubbing some of it off. Tractor joe said to leave it for now....we would come back to work on cleaning. It was cold and windy...so I agreed to that idea. The lake in the background is still frozen.
On a warmer day we can wonder around and see who else is buried here.

I will have to google "cleaning grave stones" and see what I can find out.

the explorer....

Last week tractor joe was on the computer looking for a decent Explorer that we might buy.
(he has been looking all winter)
He found one way up in Minnesota...a few hours away.
We went up there on the last day of winter and that is exactly what it felt like....cold north winds, even snow that morning....
anyway, when we arrived....there was a HUGE, brand new truck sitting in the lot.
It's bumper was so big, it was like a mirror. I had to go take a picture of it....tractor joe was telling me to "stop messing around, there was an explorer we needed to test drive."
yah yah, here I come...

We took it out for a drive...
used every button to see if they worked....
found out that setting the cruise is not the same as in the Envoy....instead of cruise the the washer fluid sprayed on the windshield and the wipers came on....
I don't think we actually kicked any tires, but darn close.
The price was right....
and....
In the end we decided to buy it.

We are now the proud owners of this 7 year old Explorer.
