Sophie is having a tea towel challenge.
When it first came up, I wasn't sure....All I could picture were the tea towels with calendars on them. I had NO idea there were tea towels that didn't have calendars.
I found one online that I really loved. It was $20.00.
Wow...... did I want to spend that much?
For a towel???
Then I found these retro looking ones.
They came as a 4-pack. I thought they were adorable.
(and cheaper)
I could use one and give the rest to my middle son for Christmas. He needs kitchen towels and loves to fish. But when they arrived they were in a fabric envelope. I cut that apart....
I plan on making some mug rugs from it. He will also get all four towels.
It will be nice practice for the real towel.
The challenge towel,
the one I really love....
After thinking and thinking,
I ordered it.
The Iowa tea towel.
I thought about using old embroidery and cutting it up,
I have thought about using selvage edges,
But now I don't know. I have time to mull it over, not a lot, but some time yet.

It's a sickness ... and I think I may have given the bug to you. I LOVE the vintage looking ones (and the bag they came in!) and, especially, the Iowa tea towel--when I looked at that line, I wanted one from every state where I've lived ...
Thanks for adding your link--your tea towel collection is sure to inspire others.
I'm doing the TT challenge, too - my post is set to go up on Wednesday . . . LOVE the Iowa towel!! Will be fun to see what you do!
I'm in the TT challenge too. Your IA towel is cute. I live over there a little north of Davenport and I work in Davenport.
The towel reminds me of the old state tablecloths.
I tried to remember where I put an Ireland tea towel I got in Ireland to use for the challenge but it escapes me for now!
whee! don't cut up that fun state map - you'll lose too much in the seams.
oh I like it!
that rick rack is so kitschy! this will be a fun one to watch grow!
Love the Iowa towel!! Can't wait to see what you do with it.
I have a few of the towels that I have picked up when traveling. Love the retro look, but agree they cost too much. Mine sit in a drawer and never get seen or used.........
I am anxious to get started on this one, too. I love my Iowa towel. Where did you find the set of 4 towels? Was I with you? :) I really like them, too. I must have something set wrong - your blog doesn't show up on my feed anymore.
Well my good gravy!!!! (yes, my gravy is good) I find out 6 or 7 days after the fact you have these last 2 posts I NEVER saw. I swear they never showed up on my blogroll…..then I read Karen's comment and now I KNOW they were not there!!
Anyway, back to the Tea Towels. Love them all! I haven't seen any like these before. Did I understand right and read you accidentally cut into the one??
WAH! I guess that was a good excuse to order THE ONE you REALLY wanted!! Cool!
