the plaid quilt.....

The hot-cross nine patch blocks from block lotto are a finished quilt.
I just call it the plaid quilt.
The white to make the blocks came from my cousin Gwen,
plus the blue fabric that is in the setting triangles.

Here we have tractor joe doing his best to be a quilt hanger. It seemed like the fastest and best way to take a picture. I wanted the whole thing showing.
Back to the blue fabric...it reminds me of men's underwear. She had given it to me years ago. I was never sure where or how to use it.
Men's underwear and plaid just seem to go together, so it was perfect to use in the border.
So, this quilt will go to Gwen.
I know I run the risk of her sipping coffee as she reads this,
inhaling by the surprise,
and chocking on her coffee.
I plan on giving it to her daughter to take home with her when she is done with school for the year.
(she is attending Waldorf in Forest City, IA)
I need to really stress this point, that she take it with her back to New Mexico.
It would be awful if she ends up packing it up
and
it spends the summer in one of her tubs that will be stored here in the basement.

We, as in tractor joe and me, spent last weekend working on these.
They are cornices for his sisters house. We did them 20 or so years ago. She is redecorating and wanted them recovered with some new fabric.
The old fabric was a skinny red and cream stripe.

Her taste must not have changed to much. They are still red. But instead of lines, they now have circles or a flower patterned fabric. They took a little longer than we thought it would.
We are also officially retiring from window treatment projects.
The kitchen table is back to being a table for food again!
Well,
at least for now.

Love, love, love the photo on the fence in the snow. You made those lotto blocks look great! I love how all three of the quilts I've seen from them are very different and all beautiful.

I LOVE your quilt! I have been wanting to make a plaid or argyle quilt. Those blocks made a great plaid. :) And cool cornices! xo

The quilt looks great! I love the way the triangles come out into the border. It almost makes it look 3 dimensional. I'm sure you are glad the cornices are done. Maybe in 20 years you can recover them again...... :)

Did you know that I am your sister, Gwen? But usually I go by the name of Carol, and I live in MN most of the time. Just send that quilt right up to me, because we're supposed to get snow, and it'll keep me warm. Thank you, btw. I LOVE it!! - gwen aka Carol

Love the Plaid Quilt! It came out just awesome. And Tractor Joe is being a super quilt holder. The fence photo sure looks cold!

So, if you're so good at doing the cornices, why would you give up being window project wizards?? They look great. Must be a big pain? I've never tried doing that. And I guess I probably won't. LOL

LOVE this quilt, especially with it photographed in the snow! Like Karen, I like how the setting triangles looks. Makes the blocks look like they are floating above the border.

I didn't realize you and Tractor Joe were such a crafty duo!! Nothing like a man with a staple gun and fabric....woo hoo!!

p.s. Will you give me a quilt if I give you some fabric like Mzzzz Gwen did??? Darn, she's getting a real prize!! I mean, I know she's your cousin and all but I thought I was your sister....from another muther?!

Are you sure you're retiring from window treatment business? I really need some in my son's bedroom and in my bathroom...
